Southbank Centre has announced The Cure’s Robert Smith as curator of its 25th Meltdown festival.

Joining an illustrious list of former curators including Nick Cave, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, David Bowie, Smith will organise his own line-up to take place across ten nights this summer. Plus, this year’s festival will be the first to take place across the entire Southbank site, including the recently refurbished Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room.

“I am honoured and excited to be curating the 25th Meltdown, said Smith. “More than 30 of my all-time favourite artists – some of the most exciting, inspirational, intense and influential performers of the last 40 years – will make sure this 10-night extravaganza is the must-see event of the summer!”

This year’s Meltdown will take place from Friday 15th June to Sunday 24th June. Tickets go on sale to the general public on 15 March.
