Starcrawler photo diary: LA’s wildchild rockers document their tour adventures
By Alex James Taylor | Music | 17 January 2018

As far as pre-gig outfit decisions go, Starcrawler frontwoman Arrow de Wilde’s are pretty unique. Silky white jumpsuit or crystal embroidered pants? Hospital gown or straight-jacket? Fake blood or… wait, that’s a no-brainer. Needless to say, the LA band’s live show is an utterly thrilling and theatrical affair perfectly in tune with their sound – a potent cocktail of rock ‘n’ roll punch. One part T-Rex, two parts Iggy pop and a large scoop of Ramones: mix and stand well back.

Having cut their teeth ripping up venues on the west coast circuit, the quartet soon began making waves further afield due to wild Youtube footage of their live set and tours with friends and fellow musical eccentrics The Lemon Twigs. Capturing the band’s vivacious energy ain’t easy – look no further than all the blurred Instagram images of their gigs – but, having recruited Ryan Adams on production, the band have managed to set their sonics to wax in the form of a debut eponymous record, set to drop this Friday.

To mark the release, we packed a camera in the band’s tour rider and they got behind it to make us a special photo diary. From blissful boat trips to jam sessions with Skating Polly and overnights at haunted hotels, scroll through Starcrawler’s tour scrapbook below.
