British designer Gareth Pugh is staging an archive exhibition as part of the upcoming Shanghai Fashion Weekend. This unique exhibition will feature the radical designer’s most iconic and influential work including celebrity commissions and fashion films from throughout his career.

Pugh is widely credited as a pioneer of innovation in the fashion industry, a title which was exemplified in his recent decision to show his SS18 collection at London Fashion Week in the form of a fashion film, in collaboration with Nick Knight, at the BFI IMAX – the largest cinema screen in Europe. This exhibition follows that tradition, showcasing some of the seminal looks that have defined the designer’s career to date. “We’re thrilled to be taking our show on the road and presenting work in Shanghai for the first time. We hope to offer the audience a high impact experience that explores some of the key themes of my work over the past decade in a completely new way,” says Pugh

This exclusive experience invites visitors into Pugh’s archive of not only runway looks and fashion films but also never-before-seen pieces worn by celebrities including Beyoncé, Chinese megastar Chris Lee and Lady Gaga.

Exemplifying the true interdisciplinary nature of Pugh’s work, the exhibition will combine the sensibilities of art, film performance, costume and of course fashion. In addition the exhibition will also showcase four of Pugh’s iconic fashion films, including his Francis-Bacon inspired SS18 short.

The exhibition will run at the Shanghai Exhibition Centre from the 20th of October until 22nd October.
