The first trailer for George Clooney’s 1950s-set crime comedy-drama Suburbicon has been released, co-written by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring Matt Damon as protagonist Gardner Lodge.

The black comedy is set in 1959 in a “peaceful, idyllic suburban community”, however that peace is soon shattered following the death of Lodge’s wife. What follows is a story of lies, deception, insurance cover-ups and revenge, revealing the town’s “dark underbelly of betrayal, deceit, and violence”.

Suburbicon will mark the fifth time Clooney has collaborated with the Coens, having previously worked together on O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Intolerable Cruelty, Burn After Reading, and Hail, Caesar!

The film is set to premiere at the Venice film festival and will be released in US cinemas on 3rd November and UK cinemas on 24th November.
