All Shook Up

Timo Weiland SS16
15 July 2015

Timo Weiland’s ready to wear showing for SS16 was presented on a trapezium-like stage to a back drop of white noise seeping through a series of televisions from the ages. ‘It’s all about summer in the city. The TV is on, but no one is watching,’ read Weiland’s mantra.

Sartorially familiar graphics of pinstripes and thin checks were joined by this static distortion – both in the form of turquoise prints and woven sweaters. Loose silhouettes, slight flares featured prominently, harking back to fifties silhouettes. Reimagined aviators abundant, the boys sported fabrication twists on menswear classics in a diverse mix of suede, silk and denim. Twisting these staples we see added in, zips, layered shirts, contrast pockets and collars, and feature coat hems.

Standing somewhere between a contemporary greaser and teddy boy, Weiland’s man is all shook up.
