Rock opulence

Roberto Cavalli FW14
By Tempe Nakiska | 14 January 2014

Cavalli went full tilt this season, heightening his consistently glam mood to a new level of edge with a collection that defined the word ‘opulent’.

Leathers were quilted to reveal animal prints, while metallic paints seemed to have been splattered across knits and brush strokes. Hence a feeling of human touch – an artisanal approach to rock and roll.

Graphics heightened the mood, with gold embellishment cast across silk ties and shirting while ruffles continued the 1970s feel that has permeated many collections in the past few days. The new summer of love has been amped up a glamorous notch – it’s freedom, gold-leafed.
