Rugged and ready

The big name that attracts all of the other big names, Ralph Lauren is the innovator of selling a lifestyle through fashion – clothing as a way of being, rather than just wearing – so after 40 years in the industry, the SS16 collection reinforced this concept, with contemporary tailored wear that was all about creating a nonchalant look.

Rugged and ready, camouflage, hybrid outwear proved practical, as frayed denim and plaid shirts visually stressed this ideal. Cool tones complemented chic silhouettes and solid foundations, with double-breasted blazers, narrow notch lapels, and soft shoulders teeming the confidence and sophistication Polo is known for. Herringbone, pocket squares, and cream linen trousers; the black skinny tie was the finishing touch to a collection where haberdashery and hoodies made their mark and redefined men’s dress code. From chambray to champagne, take us to the polo.
