‘Milano! Milano!’ screamed prints on the back of Campari-red silk shirts. Inspired by his native city, MSGM’s Massimo Giorgetti brought a pulsing energy to this season’s Italian chapter.

“An electro love letter to Milan: the passion, the power, and the cocktail hour,” read the show notes. Set at the Piazza San Fedele, Giorgetti brought the Milanese streets indoors, casting street cast girls to showcase his FW18 offering. Here, graphic sweaters and football scarves show allegiances to the city’s drinking holes – Bar Basso, Pasticceria Cucchi, Jamaica, and Pravda vodka bar – scarves come inspired by Milanese bakeries and bars (some models had scarves draped over their shoulders, others clutched them like luxe blankets) and t-shirts feature the portrait of Italian playwright and novelist Alessandro Manzoni.

A strong line-up of vribant, print-clashing suiting signalled a gear-change, some paired with tracksuit pants, others with tailored trousers: by day, pair with chunky sneakers; by night, elevate with a pointed boot.
