Echoing on from the sharp tips and widened collars of last season was an expressive take on utility for SS17.

Consuelo Castiglioni hinted at subculture and exaggerated volumes: boxy jackets, roomy trousers and enveloping coats form functional multipurpose garments for the man on the go. A palette of balmy colours spoke of the season ahead and convenient detailing (velcro and zip closures) make for quick gestures and impromptu decisions (less stripper, more sportswear).

The show oscillated between spirited sporty cuts and a strong graphic cultural blend. From models sporting heavy-lensed glasses, to having incised nylon rucksacks flung over their shoulders, Marni threw some killer stand-out pieces into this season’s utilitarian mix.
