Urban romantic

John Varvatos led us underneath New York’s Roxy Hotel for SS17. The show was held at one of Manhattan’s most widely renowned jazz clubs, the sonic context and dimly lit cocktail bar harking back to the brand’s musical foundations. The crowd sat at tables and bar stools, punctuating the runway that snaked its way around the venue.

The clothes brought a refreshing colour palette of whites and greys, cast across soft tailoring and structure. Textures like creased linens, cashmere-silks and suedes sat perfectly with the elongated and sophisticated silhouette which is Varvatos signature. It drew focus to the designer’s softer side, channeling the bohemian romance that hides in the wings of musicians’ lifestyles.
