“As black as my heart” – or so seemed to whisper the dark clothes that stalked yesterday’s Hermès runway. Black was rife, inking its all-consuming way across a collection that as ever confirmed artistic director Veronique Nichanian’s crisp vision for the Hermès man.

Jackets were tailored and silk while crisp double-breasted coats were worn with leather gloves and bags. Bombers had a hint of baseball to them with leather panels accentuating shoulders and pockets.
Taupe cut through the dark palate – pants and coats were leather and suede while midnight blue appeared as more casual pieces, from anoraks to knits. Last season’s clinical cleanness had faded into a more approachable take on totally on-point casual and formalwear for the immaculate urban man.
