“Well the same old Bobby, same old beat,” growls King Krule in Easy. Guitar and vocals: simplicity. With this track blaring, it was with the same intention that Gucci’s boys walked the runway.

SS14’s sporty aura faded into a floral cloud of nothing as AW14 stretched its frosty hands towards something unified and, well, “easy”. It was all about crisp silhouettes – sculpted tailoring washed with a pretty palette of muted mauve, blue and blush.

If there was hardware it was well hidden, with busy details left by the wayside in favour of drawing the eye to rounded shoulders and slim pants. That was the shape: subtly top heavy, a play on clean masculinity for the modern man.

Krule may have been reflecting on sameness, but this collection was a reminder that there is still beauty in the basics.
