SS19 marked Charlotte Knowles’ second season as part of the Fashion East platform. The creation of Knowles and her partner Alexandre Arsenault, this season the duo set their imaginations to “future femininity”, referencing sci-fi films and nostalgic nods to Knowles’ family summers in Devon and along the southern-English coast.

Two reference points, one looking forwards, one backwards. The centre point? “An active woman who knows what she wants and knows how to get it.” This mantra transpired via practical bum bag details, classic British prints, lycra shorts and innovative garment combos featuring halter-neck bikini attachments for spontaneous ocean dips.

This season also boasted the brand’s first venture into denim, via jeans that sat low on the hips with distressed waistband detailing – paired with a denim bra. Other highlights included the fresh and twee all over print florals and spray paint effect plaid, varying in shape and scale including a dress with gathered long sleeves and tie up fastenings.  Looks were finished with baroque-inspired jewellery by Slim Barrett and custom sunglasses by General Eyewear.
