Ancuta Sarca was this season’s Fashion East newcomer, bringing her unique take on the spliced-up kitten heel within an intimate presentation. Nike trainers were pulled apart and restitched onto pointed-toe shoes, their tongues – which ranged from holographic to classic, with mesh panelling – left partially intact. Models wore nothing but skintight bodysuits so as not to distract from the footwear, but there was also a clear message of sustainability: Sarca’s upcycled designs stop the endless cycle of new garments, and they show what’s possible with skill, patience and creativity.
