The boys of Canali’s SS17 show wore clothes steeped in a palette of steel blue and burnt sienna, paying homage to the seamless horizon of an Italian summer, and amalgamated pillars of the brand’s heritage with colloquial tailoring.

Sprawling eight decades of innovation, this new season celebrated a new chapter of Canali’s legacy: a mood of unstructured elegance, craftsmanship and intricate detailing gave life to the SS17 collection. “This season, Canali pays homage to the iconic Kej jacket and its signature deconstruction softness – for the first time, presented in suits and pants characterised by a modern silhouette,” went the show notes.

Canali is at the vanguard of Italian tailoring, but here Pompilio showed his versatility with a scattered-through range of soft leather jackets, sheepskin finishings and deconstructed shapes.
