Contributions to HERO
Where you are invited to submit any contribution to hero-magazine.com you agree, by submitting your contribution, to grant HERO the right to reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate create derivative works from, distribute, preform, play, make available to the public, and / or to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed.

You agree to indemnify HERO against all legal fees, damages, and other expenses that may be incurred by HERO as a result of your breach of the above warranty, and waive any moral rights in your contribution for the purposes of its submission to and publication on hero-magazine.com and the purposes specified above.
These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
When you wish to receive or use services on this website, such as newsletters, prize draws, uploading your work, and HERO members, you will be asked to submit personal information such as your name and email address.
By entering the details in the forms, you enable HERO and its service providers to provide you with the services you select.
When you visit hero-magazine.com, the pages you see are downloaded to your computer, along with a text file which is called a cookie. Each website on the internet can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser’s preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a web site to access the cookies it has already sent to you, not the cookies sent to you by other sites.

Use and Storage of Information
When you supply any personal information to HERO (e.g. for membership, submissions to the Rise section and prize draws) we have legal obligations towards you in the way we use those data. We must collect the information fairly, that is, we must explain how we will use it (see the notices on particular webpages that let you know why we are requesting the information) and tell you if we want to pass the information on to anyone else.
In general, any information you provide to HERO will only be used within HERO and by its agents and service providers. Your information will be disclosed where we are obliged or permitted by law. Also, if you post or send offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content anywhere on or to HERO, we can use whatever information that is available about you to stop such behaviour. This may involve informing relevant third parties such as your employer, school, e-mail/Internet provider and law enforcement agencies about the content and your behaviour.
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met, or, in the case of hero-magazine.com membership you no longer wish to continue your registration as a HERO member. For safety reasons, however, we may store messaging transcript data (including message content, member names, times and dates) arising from the use of HERO. Where personal information is held for people who are not yet registered but have taken part in other HERO services (e.g. email notifications), that information will be held as long as is necessary to ensure that the service is run smoothly. We will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
Access to your personal information

If you are aged 16 or under, please get your parent/guardian’s permission beforehand whenever you provide personal information to the HERO website. Users without this consent are not allowed to provide us with personal information.
