Peter Dundas launches namesake brand via Beyoncé’s Grammy performance

Norwegian designer Peter Dundas has launched his own eponymous brand, showcasing his debut solo designs via Beyoncé’s Grammy Awards wardrobe.

At last night’s 59th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, the Lemonade singer donned Dundas’ first solo creations as she won Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Music Video, before wowing the audience with a show-stopping medley performance.

Having left his position as creative director of Roberto Cavalli last October – he previously headed up Emilio Pucci for six years prior to that – Dundas’s new venture sees him go at it alone. And if last night’s outfits were anything to go by – an extravagant red gown and a golden gilded ensemble dripping with all the luxe accessories we’ve come to expect from the designer – it’s going to follow that ‘more is more’ formula we’ve seen from him over the years.

Choosing to announce his new brand via Beyoncé should come as little surprise. After all, he’s been dressing the musician for more than a decade. From creating costumes for her Mrs. Carter and Formation tours to creating her outfits for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration in 2013 and the Met Ball in 2011, to that marigold Lemonade dress – however, dressing a pregnant Beyoncé must come with different complications.
