Richard Nicoll sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning aged 39. The London-born fashion designer, who grew up in Australia, died in Sydney where he had been based for the past year.

London-born Nicoll, who studied at Central Saint Martins, was known for both his menswear and womenswear and his signature modernist vision. After graduating with an MA in womenswear in 2002, the designer launched his line and continued to show on the London Fashion Week schedule for ten years. His career also saw him work as creative director at Parisian fashion house Cerruti and freelance for Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton.

After closing his eponymous line in 2015, Nicolls worked at British brand Jack Wills before relocating back to Australia last year. Nicoll was due to start a new role as creative director of Adidas in January.
