Shawn Mendes stars on the cover and in a special 32 page feature inside our new issue of HERO.
We followed the quadruple-platinum selling musician on his tour this summer, and with unprecedented access captured the star both in front of and away from the spotlight.
We asked Shawn about the most memorable moment of the tour:
“When I was in Nashville… it was the night before I turned eighteen and I was just feeling really good, I was up there and I was playing ‘Ruin’ and my mum and dad were there… I just noticed for a second how many people were in front of me and it was just a really heart-whelming feeling.”
Mendes’ new album Illuminate debuted at Number One on the US Billboard 200 in September 2016. The album was released during the final leg of the tour, and Mendes has since announced a new, massive arena tour for 2017.
With the punishing schedule, Mendes explains he needs to look after his voice, especially when he’s trying to write songs on the road:
“I’m scared of over-using my voice to be honest with you. I don’t write in a low voice and quietly, when I write I’m singing full volume as hard as I can, as good as I can, because how am I supposed to know if it sounds good if I don’t?”
