Last week, Italian fashion house Pal Zileri delivered a double hit: announcing that the Mayhoola Group has acquired a full stake in the brand, gaining full ownership with 100 percent of the company; whilst also dropping its FW16 campaign, starring dancer Sergei Polunin.

Having acquired Balmain last month, it’s been a big year for Mayhoola who controls the Valentino brand along with a stake in Anya Hindmarch also. This latest move marks a major investment for the Qatari investors as well as a huge boost for the fashion brand.

And the changes don’t end there. Current CEOs Paolo Roviera and Stefano Gaudioso Tramonte will exit the house, whilst creative director Mauro Ravizza Krieger will continue to realise his interpretation of the brand’s ethos: ’Avant Craft’.

This news signals a fresh chapter for the brand, and its one channelled via the new FW16 campaign, shot by Maciek Kobielski and starring renowned ballet dance Sergei Polunin (the youngest principal dancer ever to perform for the Royal Ballet). Having joined London’s Royal Ballet at the tender age of seventeen, and swiftly catapulted to the role of principal dancer two years later, the Ukrainian-born Polunin left in 2012, in pursuit of greater personal freedom. “We chose Sergei because he fully reflects our concept of innovation and tradition, a man whose world rocks through his dance, tattoos and artistic inspiration,” says creative director Krieger.
