Gucci Mane in Supreme’s new film, directed by Harmony Korine
Supreme has today come out with its latest film, starring Gucci Mane and shot by cult filmmaker and director Harmony Korine.
The pair aren’t strangers by any extent, Korine having cast the Atlanta rapper in his 2013 film Spring Breakers (Mane played Big Arch – the nemesis of James Franco’s character, Alien – with grill’d gangster integrity).
Here the camera turns on real Gucci Mane, as he plays piano and opens Gucci accessory boxes while wearing a Supreme white and red tee, paired with a lot of bling and a white mink coat. Having only recently been released from prison, Mane is clearly enjoying himself.
Supreme is no stranger to star studded ads. A quick run through their poster campaign checklist ticks off the likes of Kate Moss (2012), Lou Reed (2009), Lady Gaga (2011), Raekwon & Ghostface & Elmo (2005), Kermit the Frog (2008) and Mike Tyson (2007).
And while Gucci Mane is a fresh appearance, it’s not the first time Harmony Korine has butted heads with Supreme. In 2011, the filmmaker, who wrote the screenplay for Larry Clark’s iconic Kids (1995) designed a t-shirt for the brand, featuring a black and white photograph of Macaulay Culkin reclining on a couch flanked by two ballerinas.
