Yesterday, renowned photographer Bill Cunningham passed away aged 87, following a stroke.

For almost forty years Cunningham worked for the New York Times. Through his columns – “On the Street” and “Evening Hours” – the beloved photographer chronicled an era’s ever-changing style and social scene.

Never without his bike and signature electric blue French workman’s smock, the Boston-born Cunningham trained his lens on the public’s street styles. Capturing the vibrant and diverse fashions that passed through the hustle and bustle of city life, he offered a fresh and unique perspective on clothing and the world around him and will be sorely missed.

“The best fashion show is definitely on the street. Always has been. Always will be.” – Bill Cunningham (March 13, 1929 – June 25, 2016)
