Inspired by 19th Century neo-classical paintings, Prada today released images of its FW16 campaign, shot by Craig McDean.

Starring Eddie Redmayne (The Danish Girl, The Theory of Everything and JK Rowling’s upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) the label continues its tradition of casting dynamic, character-driven leading men.

The brand explained their mise en scène: “Redmayne, here, assumes a number of roles – hero, villain, revolutionary – either against a neutral grey background, or a rich red split by a romanticist view of idealised nature. The poses are strident and statuesque. They echo the mannerisms of protagonists in great museum collections or epic literature, makers of history and cultural memory.”
