Today, filming begins on the long-anticipated sequel to Danny Boyle’s iconic 1996 film adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s novel Trainspotting, alongside an an official release date of January 27, 2017.

Revisiting everyone’s favourite Edinburgh addicts, Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud, the plot line is all very hush-hush, however Boyle has revealed that we will see the characters find a “very innovative” way to get involved in the world of pornography.

Loosely based on Welsh’s 2002 novel Porno, the sequel takes place twenty years after the original cult classic. The author has explained, “We’ve had to evolve past that, because the actors would have been ten years older when Porno came out, and now they’re twenty years older. It has to take into account that reality.”

With the new film comes a fresh ‘Choose…’ monologue, and this time Renton is teasing us to “choose clean living and positive thinking…yeah right.”
