Raf Simons has announced he will be showing his SS17 men’s collection at this season’s 90th anniversary Pitti Uomo, joining Gosha Rubchinskiy on the billing.

The event titled, Florence Calling: Raf Simons, will celebrate the designer’s innovative creativity as well as his enduring affinity with Florence, a city close to his heart: in 2003 Simons curated The Fourth Sex. Adolescent Extremes exhibition at Pitti, followed two years later by a celebration in the city to mark the 10th anniversary of his menswear label with a show and book release.

“Florence holds a special place in my heart as, over the years, I have regularly come back to show my work or to collaborate on ventures that closely mirrored my thoughts about it,” said Simons. “I am thrilled to be there again this season to present my S/S 2017 collection as well as a special project we are developing especially for Pitti.”

“We are happy and proud of Raf Simons’ return to Florence,” said Pitti Immagine communication and events director Lapo Cianchi. “Simons has been protagonist of some of the greatest events realized [at] Pitti Immagine Uomo…. We like to think that he sees Florence as the ideal set to explore his professional and personal path, to find energy and inspiration for his future projects.”

Pitti Immagine Uomo 90 takes place in Florence between June 14th – 17th
