Ultimate Rick Owens – the designer translates his subversive aesthetic to a new furniture exhibition in Milan
By Alex James Taylor | Art | 15 April 2016

Away from the catwalk, Rick Owens‘ signature design vision extends across various mediums.  For this year’s Salone del Mobile – Milan’s annual design fair – Owens is presenting a new ‘table collection’, his latest venture into furniture design.

An extension of the designer’s renowned aesthetic, the furniture includes deer-horned chairs, tables and silverware with bone handle, rock crystal glasses and terracotta plates – the ideal Friday night sacrifice starter-kit. Alongside these pieces will be a range of limited edition items and a video installation by Owens’ partner in the dark arts, Michèle Lamy.

Having first exhibited his furniture back in 2010, Owens’ pieces have proved to be an extension of his holistic aesthetic, sculptural, subversive, and built with an innate strength – just peek his self-designed stores (including a life-sized model of a urinating Rick at his Paris flagship) and mega Parisian home he shares with Lamy. The Californian-born designer’s penchant for refined imperfection runs throughout his oeuvre creating a fully realised world, and this 360 vision is exactly what gets under the skin of Rick Owens fanatics.

Innovative and highly covetable, lounge across the alter of Owens whilst wrapped in a pony skin tunic. Total immersion. Total luxe.

Salone del Mobile runs this weekend until 17th April at Quartiere Fiera Milano, Rho (Milano), Italy
