Today comes the announcement that Saint Laurent will stage its FW16 men’s show in LA, not in it’s usual Parisian setting.

Cited as “a tribute to the strong music scene in Los Angeles”, the show will take place at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunset Boulevard, on February 10th – the same week of the 58th Grammy Music Awards. Titled SAINT LAURENT FALL 2016 MEN AND WOMEN PART 1 , the show will be one half of a two parter, with SAINT LAURENT FALL 2016 WOMEN PART 2 being shown back in Paris on March 7th 2016.

Today’s press release specifically references the venue’s rich musical history, “Frank Sinatra was the first performer on stage at the Hollywood Palladium when it opened on October 30th 1940. Sinatra was succeeded by decades of iconic performances from artists including The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Guns N’ Roses, Prince and many others.” An iconic lineage, for sure.

Since moving to LA in 2008 (and basing his studio there in 2012) Slimane has championed the city’s zealous music scene – just yesterday he announced two video portraits starring LA musicians Ariel Pink and Kim House – enlisting members of the scene as models, musicians for show soundtracks, and icon muses in his Saint Laurent Music project.

Alongside the news comes a coinciding new video from Slimane starring current muse Staz Lindes of LA group The Paranoyds and the announcement that the brand has joined Instagram under the handle @YSL.

One thing is for sure, like Sinatra, Slimane will do it his way. And we can’t wait to find out what he has planned.
