Earlier this year a new film was announced, titled Gutterdämmerung (meaning, ‘twilight of the gutter margins’). However this is no ordinary film, dubbed “the loudest silent movie on Earth”, Gutterdämmerung will feature performances from rock royalty, including Iggy Pop, Grace Jones, Henry Rollins, Eagles of Death Metal, Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, Slayer’s Tom Araya, Mark Lanegan, Nina Hagen, Slash, and Volbeat.

With a cast forged by the rock gods, the Bjorn Tagemose directed post-apocalyptic rock epic may sound like someone’s idea of a crafty joke, but today it was all confirmed as reality.

On November 12th Gutterdämmerung will be screened at Kentish Town Forum alongside a live band including Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse ‘Boots Electric’ Hughes and former Black Flag frontman Henry Rollins. There will also be a Q&A with the film’s creator Bjorn alongside Henry and Jesse.

So what’s the film actually about you ask? Well, it’s all set in a world where God has saved the world from sin by confiscating the Devil’s “Grail of Sin”a Satanic guitar from mankind. The Earth has now turned into a puritan world, clear from sex, drugs or rock ‘n’ roll.

From the heavens an angel with a bad streak, Vicious (portrayed by Iggy Pop) grows tired with the sanitised world below. And so, behind God’s back, Vicious sends the Devil’s guitar back to earth bringing sin back to mankind. An evil puritan priest (Henry Rollins) manipulates a naive girl to retrieve the guitar and destroy it. On her quest to find the Devil’s Grail Of Sin, the girl is forced to tackle the world’s most evil rock and roll bastards and her rock chick rival (played by jesse Hughes’ girlfriend Tuesday Cross).

It doesn’t get any better than this. Check out the trailer and get yourself a ticket.
