Matthew Miller is reigniting his graphic FW13 ‘Born To Fail’ mantra in a new capsule collection, out this week. Miller worked with a London based sign writer to redesign and hand paint the iconic slogan onto a limited edition collection of t-shirts, sweatshirts and graffitied biker jackets.

It’s all intrinsic to his brand ethos, which champions the voices of a generation disaffected. “People often ask me to write articles about politics,” Miller says, “but I’m not a writer, I’m a designer and visual communicator. So this is my article.”

Last week, we shared Miller’s special FW15 illustration project and in our interview the designer mused on his FW15 collection, castings and the ‘gender debate’. Put it all together and it’s clear just how integral cultural commentary is to this brand’s ideology. Take FW15’s ‘RESISTANT’ tags, which nodded to fire-resistant graphics found on furniture, with a more conceptual link reflecting on humanity’s resistance to societal conformability.

Take a leaf from Miller’s book and get champion his most popular mantra. The stakes have never been lower, and that’s how we like it.

The capsule collection will be available from Matthew Miller’s online store from the end of this week.
