The new issue of Acne Paper builds a house designed by artistic greats
By Barry Pierce | Art | 7 June 2023

Sound the alarms! The latest issue of Acne Paper is here. Ever since its inaugural issue in 2005, the twice-yearly publication has garnered a cult following thanks to its high-concept reimagining of what a fashion magazine can be. So be ready to clear a space on your shelf as Issue 18 looks like its taking things to a whole new level.

The concept is House of Acne Paper — so let’s step inside. The House of Acne Paper has been created around the idea of a house with a fantasy collection of furniture, art and objects. The house has nine rooms and a garden: ten chapters which feature photographic stories by some of the most exciting image makers of today. Behind every door there is also a conversation with ten remarkable people from the world of art, design, architecture, performance, literature and interiors.

So, basically MTV’s Cribs but, like, real classy. With rooms adorned with wall-hangings by El Anatsui, Peter Collingwood and Hiva Alizadeh, paintings by Chris Ofili, Francis Picabia and Jacques-Émile Blanche, chairs by Philippe Malouin, Shigeru Uchida and Hannah Levy, tables by Faye Toogood, Hervé Van der Straeten, Joseph Walsh and Rick Owens, cutlery by Salvador Dalí, and an 18k gold toilet by Maurizio Cattelan, I don’t even want to think of the rent on this place.

The House of Acne Paper launches on June 8th with an event and exhibition at the new Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London and will feature talks with Mac Collins, Charlene Prempeh, MJ Harper and others.
