Produced in collaboration with Valentino’s creative director and good friend of Luca Guadagnino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, The Staggering Girl is a 35-minute film that premiered last year at Cannes, starring Julianne Moore, Mia Goth and Kyle MacLachlan.

For those feverishly anticipating Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name follow up, (Find Me – set for release next year) consider the above trailer an appetite whetter to keep your urges in check for the next twelve months. Shot by Thai cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, who shot Suspiria as well as Call Me By Your Name, the trailer teases an unsettled vision of Rome where all is not as it seems.

The plot follows Francesca (Julianne Moore), the expatriated daughter of acclaimed German-Roman painter Sophia Moretti, who has descended into blindness. On her journey to Rome to retrieve her ailing mother she is confronted with the confession of a stranger (Kyle MacLachlan), which forces her to confront her mother as well as the painful memories of her youth.

The Staggering Girl is out on 15th February 2020.
