In a world of dwindling attention spans, there’s been a contrasting trend in the film industry, with filmmakers choosing to make incredibly long films.

But just when Martin Scorsese thought he’d clinched the title with The Irishman – at three hours 30 minutes it’s the longest major US movie in more than 20 years – details have now emerged that Wes Anderson is set to better his counterpart. Yes, Anderson’s much-anticipated upcoming film The French Dispatch is rumoured at a bum-numbing four hours and one minute. Split into two parts, this marks the US director’s longest-running film to date. And for the most die-hard fans, you can opt for the director’s cut that comes in at a whopping five hours and twenty-five minutes. While these times have not been officially certified, they come from recently updated technical details on IMDb.

Centred around an American journalist based in France who creates his own magazine, The French Dispatch boasts a star-studded cast that includes Léa Seydoux, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Timothée Chalamet and Bill Murray.

The French Dispatch is set for release later this year, get ready.
