Loewe’s first New York store is a celebration of creativity and art

Located in Lower Manhattan’s SoHo district, Loewe‘s first standalone New York store is a celebration of the brand’s tactile heritage that showcases the full range of men’s and women’s collections.

Having cut the ribbon on the store this week, the new bricks and mortar space sees a slice of Spain brought to downtown NY, with concrete, Campaspero limestone and antique cider presses all shipped over from the country to adorn the newly renovated building on Greene Street. While the restoration process has largely paid homage to the surrounding architecture, inside, the shackles have been lifted, with the space doubling up as an art venue to showcase the work of eight artists drawn from Jonathan Anderson‘s Loewe collection.

Echoing the brand’s commitment to promoting craft, the work on display will include painting and sculpture by contemporary artists as well as handmade objects and furniture. The rotational displays begin with a major hand-painted screen by South African artist Lisa Brice, which will be presented on the ground floor, while the glass paintings, prints and video works of German artist Andrea Büttner will take residence on the first floor. As well as a number of photographers on display including Lionel Wendt and Angus McBean, other sections of the store will see key pieces by previous Loewe Craft Prize finalists as well as three tapestries specially commissioned by Loewe for their women’s SS18 show. As if that wasn’t enough, the new store will see the debut of the New York Postal bag two weeks before it launches anywhere else.

Loewe’s new store is located at 79 Greene Street, New York.
