Now in their third year as co-creative directors, the Meiers have breathed soulful modernity into the iconic brand shaped by music, romance and imagery taken by the duo on roadtrips across the world. Having met as students at Florence’s renowned Polimoda fashion institute, Lucie – who is from the Swiss mountain town of Zermatt – then spent close to a decade honing her craft with positions at Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and most recently as head designer for Christian Dior Couture. Meanwhile, Luke worked for eight years as the head designer at Supreme, before launching his own street-luxe menswear line, OAMC, in 2013.
“For us, showing in Florence is both an honor and a completion”, say Lucie and Luke Meier. “We first met in Florence, and never imagined that we would be back here together showing at Pitti Uomo”.
“We have been following with great interest the work of Lucie and Luke Meier at Jil Sander”, says Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine director of communications and events. “A very precise vision of fashion, where there is clearly a constant search for equilibrium between the respect for minimalist codes – which made the history of the brand – and the desire to incite emotion, combined with great attention to details”.
Pitti Uomo takes place January 7th – 10th.
