Dior will show pre-fall 2020 in Miami, days before Art Basel
Fashion | 1 August 2019

Having taken guests to Tokyo for his pre-fall 2019 Dior menswear show last year, Kim Jones is switching things up and relocating to Miami for this year’s event.

Taking place on December 3rd, 2019, two days before the opening of the international contemporary art fair, Art Basel Miami Beach, the timing of the show extends Jones’ ties with the art world – having previously collaborated with Kaws (SS19) Hajime Sorayama (pre-fall 2020) and Raymond Pettibon (FW19). The choice of location also pays tribute to Christian Dior, who went on a tour of the US in 1947 to promote his debut ‘New Look’ collection.

“The US was the first place after France where Christian Dior enjoyed success, and I am looking at a project he did in the 1950s in the States as a starting point for Fall,” says Kim Jones. “I am really looking forward to presenting our first men’s show in the US for this Fall 2020 collection as the perfect precursor to Art Basel.”

Go for the Dior, stay for the art. We’ll see you in Miami.
