Birkenstock team up with Universal Work for a choreographed collection

To celebrate the launch of their new footwear collection, Birkenstock and menswear retailers Universal Works have created a film celebrating the versatility of their two-style collaboration, produced by UKMVA-nominated Director Samuel Taylor.

Shot in Walthamstow Assembly Hall, the short film shows an all-male contemporary dance troupe get down in the name of cork sandals and extreme comfort, demonstrating with nonchalant ease just how well you’re going to move in these new Birkys.

Available in two different styles, the Boston and Zurich come in color combinations of taupe and sand (Zurich and Boston) and navy and slate grey (Zurich), all detailed with the signature Birkenstock black buckle.

And Universal Works’ love for Birkenstock sandals has history. After all, Founder, David Keyte, bought his first pair after meeting his partner and co-founder, who at the time was wearing his own pair. So impressed, Keyte went straight to the shops for his own pair of Bostons. Today, Keyte can rarely be found without his trusty Zurich style Birkenstocks.

“A household name with roots that date back over two centuries, Birkenstock is a company Universal Works has always hoped to work with,” says Keyte. “As a long-term Birks wearer, a long-term Birks fan, and all-around lover of BIRKENSTOCK products, I am both hugely excited and humbled to be given a chance to put a Universal Works touch on two of my favourite styles.”

The UW x BIRKENSTOCK collection will be exclusively available from 2nd May in BIRKENSTOCK and UW® stores and online, as well as at selected retailers.
