Last season, Jonathan Anderson encouraged us to embrace our inner child. Transforming Loewe’s HQ on Place Saint-Sulpice into a pom-pom-filled adult playground for SS19, the British designer allowed us to dial back to that effervescent naivety, where all is possible and all is fun. Here, memories from our youth danced into reality: sea urchins floated across trousers, lions prowled over sweatshirts and Dumbo flew onto a pyjama-style tattersall suit.
Now, Anderson is extending the Dumbo motif to a limited edition capsule collection launching at the end of March. Featuring menswear and womenswear alongside accessories, everybody’s favourite slappy-eared, flying elephant makes his way across drawstring shorts, baby blue rucksacks, shirts and tees.
And it’s apt timing from Anderson, given that Tim Burton’s whimsical live-action interpretation of the Disney classic comes out 29th March, starring Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Danny DeVito. So you’ll be able to wear your Loewe Dumbo merch to the cinema. Not weird at all.
