Lou Dalton talks elevating everyday essentials through her new Farnol collaboration
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 12 November 2018

When London brand Farnol and menswear designer Lou Dalton first collaborated earlier this year, it just made sense. With shared design codes rooted in minimalist, high-quality wardrobe staples, the resulting collection was a highly-wearable selection of everyday essentials drawing on Dalton’s utilitarian detailing and Farnol’s palette and aesthetic. Now, the collaborative team return with a FW collection sure to warm up your winter wardrobe.

“As this a continuation of the collaboration that began last season, it was very much about building on what we had already developed first season in,” Dalton tells us. “That said, it’s key to evolve and whilst working close with the design team we discussed the overall look of the range, how Farnol performs as a whole, what are their strengths and what could I bring to the table to create a dynamic range for both men and women that is beautifully made, well designed and won’t burn a hole in your pocket.”

It all results in a highly-wearable collection underpinned by clean silhouettes, autumnal hues and a sense of ease and lightness. Having spent her childhood surrounded by the moors and pastures of Shropshire, Dalton knows a thing or two about dressing for the elements. Here, that background comes into play as comfy knitwear elevated through reversed seams, contrast fabrics tees and coats built with extra warm quilting – ideal for when the mercury levels drop. “The quality of the product and materials used is something both myself and Farnol share,” adds Dalton. “With Farnol positioning the product at a more affordable price point allowed the possibility of introducing a new, younger audience to Lou Dalton.”
