With their latest collaboration, adidas are bringing a new meaning to underground fashion, launching a new partnership with TfL that marks the 15th anniversary of the Oyster Card and wider celebration of our often maligned but much loved tube system.

Useful though the Underground may be, cheap it definitely isn’t. And splurging on travel credit is not our idea of lavish treatment, we reserve that for buying things for ourselves, like nice new trainers. What a victory then that Adidas are offering an £80 shoe with an accompanying Oyster Card topped up with the same value. For the quick ones amongst you, yes, that’s essentially a free pair of shoes.

And this isn’t any old Oyster Card either, all three trainer styles correspond to a bespoke card, each inspired by vintage advertising posters found in abandoned underground stations. Pieced together, the cards form a mosaic of the whole poster, and as if that wasn’t enough, each come in a premium leather card holder that will help separate you from the everyday schmuck. You’ll have to act fast however, the trainers launched yesterday and are each limited to 1500 pairs.

The 1500 pairs will be available to buy from 27th October at the adidas Originals stores in London at Fouberts Place and Hanbury Street, as well as select retailers, with an RRP of £80.
