Belgian designer Glenn Martens and creative director of Y/Project will present the brand’s FW19 menswear collection at next year’s guest designer at Pitti Uomo.

The winner of last year’s prestigious ANDAM award is rightly considered one of the most promising talents to have emerged in the last five years, and since taking the helm of Y/Project in 2013 has helped establish the Parisian label as a mainstay of the luxury market. Along the way he has championed the trend of unisex looks, helping set a precedent in streetwear-infused tailoring that constantly treads the line between conceptual and versatile.

In the words of Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine director of communications and special events, “Glenn Martens has created with Y/Project a new aesthetic language that is driven by contradictions, in which chic is combined with extravagance and eclectic references, while streetwear elements are enriched by historical and couture touches sometimes out of scale…A designer who expresses an acute sense of humor, with a vision of fashion that is extremely personal, where there is room for the freedom to dress as you like, experiment and have fun – without raising barriers of any kind”.

“Florence’s exquisite heritage has been a never-ending source of fascination to me. I am extremely honoured to have been asked to show Y/Project at Pitti Uomo, in the core of this mythical city”, says Glenn Martens.

Pitti Immagine Uomo 95 will take place in Florence, 8th – 11th January 2019.
