Jim Hosking, the man behind the unlikely 2016 Sundance film festival hit The Greasy Strangler, is back with his sophomore feature film, An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn, starring Aubrey Plaza, Jemaine Clement, Emile Hirsch and Craig Robinson.

For those who have never witnessed his… niche debut feature about a father and son who run a disco walking tour and end up falling for the same woman, it’s a piece that really can’t be done justice with words, instead, it’s best enjoyed on a quiet night in with an open mind. And while this second instalment is not exactly a follow-up, early signs are that Hosking isn’t toning anything down.

The story follows ‘a love triangle with too many sides’ in which Lulu Danger (Aubrey Plaza) is forced to confront a man from her past (Craig Robinson) when he appears in a TV commercial for ‘An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn For one Magical Night Only’. Things get complicated when her estranged husband (Emile Hirsch) and his cronies target Lulu’s brother, giving specialist Colin (Jemaine Clement) the perfect opportunity to show his mettle.

It’s a far cry from the walking disco tours of Ronnie and Brayden and all that tapioca pudding lather, but we can’t wait for our first glimpse come 19th October.
