Mac DeMarco has launched his very own record label, the aptly named Mac’s Record label.

Having previously released music via Captured Tracks, this new label will be distributed through Universal Music Group’s Caroline. As for the name, Mac explains that Jen Twynn Payne from The Courtneys helped him with that one. “Hi, it’s Mac. We’re starting a record label; it’s called ‘Mac’s Record Label.’ My friend Jen who plays drums in The Courtneys gave me the name,” Mac shared in a statement.

Adding to the news, Mac also announced his first ever solo tour. Sans band, the tour will be called Purple Bobcat Next to River and will kick off in November. See the full list of dates here.
