Earlier this year Alessandro Michele dealt us the curveball that he will be showing his upcoming Gucci SS19 show in Paris rather than the house’s usual slot on the MFW calendar. Now comes further details: the collection will be presented at Paris’ iconic Théâtre Le Palace on 24th September at 9:00 pm.

The move rounds up Michele’s three-part homage to France, having previously unveiled a pre-fall campaign paying homage to the 1968 Paris student marches, and shown relocated his Cruise 2019 show to the historical French city of Arles.

Located at 8 Rue du Faubourg-Montmartre, Le Palace was the place to be in the 70s and 80s. Hosting some of the wildest and most debaucherous parties of the era, the venue became known as Paris’ answer to Studio 54. With Edwige Belmore, “the queen of punk” working the door and a plethora of eccentric personalities inside, the appeal for Michele is clear.

On becoming the first fashion house to host a runway show at Le Palace, the Gucci press release reads: “The Théâtre Le Palace resonates with the vision of the House as it is a venue that gave life to a (sub)culture that has inspired young generations up until today.”
