Between Carhartt WIP’s legacy as the uniform of blue-collar America and Brain Dead’s graphic-led brand of California skatewear, the two brands represent polar ends of the same spectrum, a chronology for the development of streetwear. One, forged from utility and manual labour, the other, a post-punk subcultural collective that draws its designs from a global network of artists.

Now, the two brands have merged for a special collaborative collection infusing Brain Dead’s graphics with Carhartt WIP’s utilitarian heritage designs.

The collection is made up from timeless Carhartt WIP pieces like the Bib Overall and Chore Coat, reimagined by Brain Dead co-founders Ed Davis and Kyle Ng through their signature lens. Available in lightweight nylon fabrics, the capsule sees Carhartt WIP disembark from their usual raison d’être and it feels seamless, no better illustrated than with the pair’s effortlessly fused logo. Oh, and the drop will be accompanied by Brain Dead Index Vol. 1, a collection of work produced by Braid Dead in collaboration with Carhartt WIP showcasing designers, artists and illustrators from around the world.

The Carhartt WIP x Brain Dead collaboration and the Brain Dead Index Vol. 1 will be available at selected retailers and Carhartt WIP stores, worldwide on 14th July.
