And so it begins, Riccardo Tisci‘s first move after joining Burberry earlier this year will be a collaboration with British icon Vivienne Westwood. In doing so he is not only collaborating with one of his idols, a woman who drew to him to the world of design at a young age, but aligning two of Britain’s most cherished institutions for a debut collaboration that will be launched in December this year.

“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something.” said Tisci of the collection. “She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together”

So what can we expect? Burberry are playing this one fairly close to the chest, claiming that the forthcoming collection will simply be based on “re-imagined iconic styles” and a, “celebration of British style and heritage”. What we do know is that the collaboration will support UK based NGO Cool Earth in protecting global rain forests and is just a little taste of Tisci’s vision for Burberry to keep us satisfied until his debut collection for the brand is revealed in September.
