From playing alternative cool kid Kyle in Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, to the lovelorn teenager who just can’t help falling in love with his father’s grad student in Call Me By Your Name, Timothée Chalamet has already cemented his coming-of-age credentials. Now comes his third major role of 2018, playing an outcast drug dealer in Elijah Bynum’s directorial debut, Hot Summer Nights.

Set in 1980s Cape Cod, Chalamet plays an out-of-towner sent to the Massachusetts coast for the summer. Not fitting in with the preppy crowd, Chalamet’s character – David – pals up with local drug dealer (played by Alex Roe) and soon finds himself in over his head, and head over heels for the dealer’s sister (Maika Monroe, of It Follows). Uh-oh.

Produced by A24 and having premiered at SXSW earlier this year, Hot Summer Nights will hit cinemas on 27th July. Get your first peek of the movie via the trailer below.
