When Loewe do a project, they really round out the concept. Their most recent one has seen them enact a revival collection with Paula’s Ibiza Boutique, and the opening of a special Ibiza pop-up boutique at the Island’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MACE). Now, the brand has collaborated with DJ duo Soulwax and legendary sound director Michel Gaubert on an accompanying summer track called Close To Paradise.

Written and produced by Soulwax and curated by Gaubert, the balearic track involves four stages narrated by four local characters, providing different perspectives on the island’s magnetism.

“‘David and Stephen Dewaele are two culture vultures and they have an amazing knowledge of Ibiza, its people and its place in the music world, it seemed logical to ask them to collaborate on this project,” Michel Gaubert reflected.

The two-track record is part of a broader creative ode to Ibiza, sparked by creative director Jonathan Anderson’s fond memories of childhood trips to the island, when he first discovered the iconic store, Paula’s. The project started last season via a collaboration with Paula’s co-founder Armin Heinemann, while this season takes things further, blending Heinemann’s nature-inspired prints with Loewe’s craft-based designs.

The album artwork was created by Ill-Studio and the vinyl pressed by independent British music and arts enterprise The Vinyl Factory.

The limited edition record of Close To Paradise will be released by The Vinyl Factory and DEEWEE, Soulwax’s label. Digital downloads will be available from August on iTunes and Spotify.
